Nicky Hambleton-Jones
Summary
Full Story
I once presented a popular TV show, a career highlight that ended 15–20 years ago. Afterwards, I focused on building my own business and raising my children.
When COVID hit, my business took a huge hit, forcing me to reassess everything. Just after turning 50, I felt lost and confused. Should I rebuild my business, try something new, or go back to TV? I wanted to do something amazing with the next chapter of my life, but I didn’t know where to start.
At the time, I was working from home, looking after my children, and had lost the spark I once had. Though I was physically healthy—working out, eating well, and keeping up appearances—I was internally frustrated and low. I wanted to get back to the version of myself that I once was, but I didn’t know how.
In my search for clarity, I decided to try something completely different: a home staging course. It turned out to be an eye-opener. Surrounded by people who seemed a world apart from me, I had a moment of realisation: This wasn’t me. I had written four books, I used to be on stage inspiring people, and I wanted to get back to that. So, I Googled “the best life coach in the UK.”
That’s when I found Michael. I knew I wanted the best—someone who could help me reconnect with my purpose. After watching his videos, I knew he was the right fit. I sent him an email, saying, “I don’t know if I can afford you, but I don’t think I can afford not to work with you.” And that’s how our journey began.
In our first session, Michael told me to forget about TV and focus on rebranding myself. He encouraged me to reconnect with who I am—Nicky Hambleton-Jones—because people know me, not NHJ Style. He didn’t just tell me what to do; he gave me the contacts I needed to make it happen—web designers, photographers, and more. His support was constant, not just in sessions, but throughout the process.
After a few months of working on my new website and photos, I started to feel different. Clients began coming in, and he pushed me to raise my prices. Though it felt uncomfortable, it was a game changer when clients happily paid.
About ten months later, I walked into one of our sessions and told him, “You’re not going to believe this. This Morning just asked me to present a TV series for them!” While Michael never told me to go back to TV, he encouraged me to focus on being the best at what I do, and everything else fell into place.
What I love most about working with Michael is his 24/7 support. It’s not just about the sessions; it’s about the moments in between. When I felt overwhelmed, he sent me a voice note saying, “Nicky, you’re a parrot among pigeons. Don’t forget it.” That phrase has stuck with me, and whenever imposter syndrome creeps in, I remind myself: I’m a parrot among pigeons.
Michael truly believes in you. He doesn’t work with anyone he doesn’t believe in, and that belief makes all the difference.
